The Thoroughbred Breeders Association has annouced the dates of its flagship event, the annual Stud Farming Course, for 2026.
This ever-popular course provides delegates with a comprehensive overview of key stud management topics and features a series of talks from industry experts, including those from Newmarket Equine Hospital, Rossdales Veterinary Surgeons and the Royal Veterinary College.

I'd been using TB-Ed for a while before I realised there was a smarter way to access it. Here's what changed my mind about joining the TBA.

Let me be upfront: I wasn't a TBA member. I work on a stud farm, I care a lot about doing my job well, and I'd been paying for individual courses on TB-Ed here and there when I needed them. It worked fine. But "fine" and "the best deal going" are two very different things — and it took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure that out.

Weaning is one of the most critical milestones in a thoroughbred foal’s early life. Done well, it sets the stage for healthy development, confidence and future athletic potential. Done poorly, it can lead to a number of physical and behavioural challenges.

But one question continues to generate debate: When is the right time to start weaning?

Hint: it doesn't involve textbooks.
