This five-module course covers the full spectrum of Thoroughbred foal weaning:

  • Module One: When to Wean – Learn how to assess health, body condition and nutritional needs to determine optimal timing.

  • Module Two: Weaning Methods – Compare stable vs. paddock methods and discover how to support well-being and development.

  • Module Three: Creep Feeding – Understand how and when to introduce supplementary feed and explore options that meet the differing needs of mare and foal.

  • Module Four: Monitoring the Mental and Physical Effects of Weaning – Identify physical and behavioural indicators of well-being and assess the impact of your weaning program.

  • Module Five: Post-Weaning Care – Support foals and mares after weaning with strategies to prevent mastitis, manage nutrition and monitor growth.

There's a short quiz at the end of the course and a downloadable certificate is available upon successful completion of both course and quiz.
