Stud Farming Course 2026: Booking Now Open
If you're not already familiar, the three-day course covering everything you need to know about running a stud farm - from fertility and foaling to yearling prep for the sales. It's a brilliant way to get hands-on knowledge from the people actually doing this work day in, day out.
Who's presenting? Experts from Newmarket Equine Hospital, Rossdales Veterinary Surgeons and the Royal Veterinary College, plus a host of other industry experts from stud farming and bloodstock - so you're learning from the best in the business.
What does it cover?
Day 1 - Reproduction and fertility: the mare's reproductive cycle, managing the barren mare, biosecurity, causes of abortion and parasite control.
Day 2 - Foal and yearling health, and the road to sale: broodmare nutrition, diseases of the older foal and yearling, yearling selection and sales prep.
Day 3 - Foaling and neonatal care: birth problems, common newborn foal conditions, growth defects, plus a session on farriery for foals and mares.
You'll also get a visit to Darley and the National Stud to see their foaling simulator in action, a tour of the British Racing School, and a course dinner on the first night - a great chance to catch up with fellow delegates, speakers, and other industry folk.
